There are so many tasks to do as a Photographer in Business and when we get so focused on the everyday runnings such as editing, shooting, paperwork, emailing clients back, ordering beautiful products, updating our website, blogging oh and don’t you dare forget about social media etc we just don’t seem to market our photography businesses like we should while we are busy and then that is when a break in the booking cycle happens and we have no BOOKINGS SAY WHAT!!!! Or there is the situation that I found myself in and I had to move my existing photography business into a new area where I knew NOBODY had no connections and had to build my photography business again from the ground up from scratch! Talk about overwhelming…

1. Who are you anyway???
If you’ve ever made any type of investment before which I know you have because we all make investments everyday (time included) you bet your shining crown that you want to know that what you are investing on is of value and worth it’s weight for your investment! That’s where the KNOW/LIKE/TRUST comes in my friend! I’ve heard this recently and for the life of me I can’t remember where but it went something like this and shook me to the core! When people like you they will listen when people know you they like you and when people TRUST you they WILL BUY from you!!! To start that journey with your brand it all starts at the enquiry & booking phase!
- Your clients want to connect with you as a human and not a brand before they trust you and buy from you! (gone are the days when someone would search the newspaper for a Photographer you bet they will be searching you, reading your reviews and making sure you are not going to skip town with their money or worse THEIR BABY!!!
- Trust is where it’s all at my friend! Social media is a huge component of this… USE IT to your advantage, be professional but personable and relatable! They will literally feel like your BFF and whenever anyone is looking for a Photographer YOU MY FRIEND will be FRONT OF MIND!!!
Connecting with your clients & POTENTIAL client by being relatable via story is the most important part of your brand and marketing strategy. Share your life your world the behind the scenes what it takes to produce their pieces of art that they can cherish forever…. This will build your brand FASTER than you can say SORRY I”M FULLY BOOKED.
Use Instagram stories/Instagram live, Facebook LIVE to build your brand, keep your graphics and photos professional and keep those LIVES & STORIES connecting/relatable something you do on a daily/weekly basis!
2. Claire told me about your Photography Biz!
Testimonials are the most powerful form of advertising, why? It’s a story told that isn’t from you! Testimonials/sweet words carry so much weight because they are experiences HAD usually by friends that they TRUST! (there is that sales word again trust. Testimonials create desire from friends and acquaintances the word of mouth trend because it’s an experience one wants to feel the same feelings and outcome that you gave their friends/family!
Testimonials are super powerful, share them everywhere, social media stories, social media posts, blog about them, put them on your website share them out like confetti!!!! If you want to shoot a certain thing or offer a certain product it’s so very powerful to have this experience from a client to share with the world because what monkey sees money does… I hear from my clients on a weekly basis that when they share on their social media platforms an experience had with their audience they will get a flood of enquiries… I’m telling you it’s THAT GOOD!
3. Be the badass you deserve to be!
Confidence is where it all begins honestly! I remember getting no-where for quite a few years… There is always some reason that pushes us to the next level even before we are ready! (Most times in my life this has happened). I actually can’t think of a time that I have ever been “ready” to up level anything in my life! Those reasons can be a lot of things but some of the things I hear a lot are; financial your household income is really scraping the barrel and you are in need to make it work before you become homeless (literally) – or your Spouse lost their job, these are the things that push us in life to become a badass in a freaking good way and gain the confidence that we need to be authentic business people!
The women that come to me with rock bottom confidence have little to no income and their self worth comes in question and it makes me incredibly sad! It’s my purpose and mission to help badass babes just like you to gain confidence and in turn, this will show in amazing income goals you never thought to be possible in your Photography Business! This friends is how growth is formed and you reach amazing strengths you never dreamed possible!
